The Storyopen MedicalBase 20 Clinical Mobile Home is a specialist residential and clinical annex unit designed for deployment adjacent to residential properties to house dependent family members requiring medical care or supervision, and for use as a clinical annexe in community healthcare, respite care, and supported living scenarios where a purpose-built, accessible residential space is required without the cost and planning complexity of a permanent extension. The MedicalBase 20 is designed in compliance with NHS Premises Assurance Model guidance and Care Quality Commission environmental standards for residential care spaces, providing a healthcare-grade residential environment in a road-legal, relocatable format.
Accessibility throughout the MedicalBase 20 is delivered to BS 8300:2018 Part M standards: a level-access entrance with automated sliding door on a 900mm clear opening, a fully accessible wet room with fold-down shower seat, grab rails at all specified positions, a 1500mm × 1500mm turning circle clearance in the bathroom and living areas, a height-adjustable platform bed base, and flush threshold transitions at all internal doorways eliminating trip hazards across the full floor plan. The 20-square-metre footprint is planned around the needs of a single occupant with a full-time or part-time carer, with a carer’s seated area, medical equipment storage, and call-point system pre-wired to a hardwired nurse call panel.
The mechanical and electrical systems are specified for healthcare use: a whole-house mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) unit maintaining 1 air change per hour with HEPA filtration, an emergency backup 2,000Wh battery UPS system maintaining life-safety lighting, nurse call, and door automation through a 4-hour power interruption, and thermostatically controlled underfloor heating maintaining a consistent 21°C in all conditions. External connection is via 32A single-phase with a separate 10mm² sub-circuit for medical equipment. Flooring throughout is hygienic vinyl to NHS flooring specification with antimicrobial surface treatment.
Storyopen provides a full commissioning report, CQC-compatible environmental assessment documentation, and a dedicated healthcare deployment support team experienced in working with NHS trusts, local authorities, and private care providers across the UK.
